Advisors

The IARU Admin­is­tra­tive Coun­cil AC) appoints advi­sors and coor­di­na­tors to serve in spe­cial­ized roles.

The Satel­lite Advi­sor, cur­rent­ly Hans Blondeel Tim­mer­man, PB2T, han­dles ama­teur satel­lite fre­quen­cy coor­di­na­tion; keeps the AC informed on all tech­ni­cal and oper­a­tional aspects of the ama­teur satel­lite ser­vice; pro­vides advice and assis­tance to enable the AC to adopt appro­pri­ate poli­cies; and informs the satel­lite com­mu­ni­ty about the work of the IARU. An Advi­so­ry Pan­el com­posed of satel­lite experts from around the globe assists the Satel­lite Advisor.

The Bea­con Project Inter­na­tion­al Coor­di­na­tor, cur­rent­ly Peter Jen­nings, AB6WM/VE3SUN, pro­vides liai­son with the North­ern Cal­i­for­nia DX Foun­da­tion and the vol­un­teers who main­tain the net­work of time-shar­ing bea­cons that oper­ate on 14.100, 18.110, 21.150, 24.930, and 28.200 MHz. He also advis­es the AC on HF bea­con mat­ters generally.

The EMC Coor­di­na­tor, cur­rent­ly Dr. Mar­tin Sach, G8KDF, coor­di­nates rep­re­sen­ta­tion of ama­teur and ama­teur-satel­lite inter­ests on elec­tro­mag­net­ic com­pat­i­bil­i­ty (EMC) issues with spe­cial respon­si­bil­i­ty for CISPR. The EMC Coor­di­na­tor ensures that the AC is ful­ly informed on EMC matters.

The Emer­gency Com­mu­ni­ca­tions Spe­cial Advi­sor, cur­rent­ly Rod Stafford, W6ROD, rep­re­sents the IARU in the ITU Devel­op­ment Sec­tor (ITU‑D) [exter­nal link] and offers advice and coun­sel to the AC on mat­ters relat­ing to emer­gency and dis­as­ter response communications.
