The mis­sion of the ITU Radio­com­mu­ni­ca­tion Sec­tor is to ensure ratio­nal, equi­table, effi­cient and eco­nom­i­cal use of the radio fre­quen­cy spec­trum by all radio com­mu­ni­ca­tion ser­vices, includ­ing those using satel­lite, and to car­ry out stud­ies and adopt rec­om­men­da­tions on radio com­mu­ni­ca­tion matters.

ITU‑R is organ­ised in a num­ber of Study Groups (SG) and each SG has a set of Work­ing Par­ties (WP).
